Invaluable experience: the US is very interested in Ukrainian means and technologies for intercepting “shaheeds”

Representatives of the US Department of Defense visited Ukraine to discuss the possible use of Ukrainian experience in countering drones. The point is the development of cheaper means of intercepting drones that can be used by the American side.

Journalists note that the United States is interested in Ukrainian experience in combating drones, in particular the use of inexpensive interceptors to counter Shahed drones.
According to the publication, last week, Brigadier General Matt Ross was in Ukraine with members of the Joint Interagency Task Force 401. This structure coordinates the Pentagon’s work on the development and procurement of new anti-drone systems.
“Brigadier General Matt Ross and several members of his Joint Interagency Task Force 401, which leads the Pentagon’s work on developing and acquiring new weapons to combat drones, were in Ukraine last week to continue work on a plan to use Ukrainian combat-proven experience,” a defense department spokesman said.
The article notes that the potential agreement between the parties has not yet been signed. However, it could be one of the cases when Ukraine offers the United States technological cooperation in the defense sector.
Journalists emphasize that interest in such technologies is due to the need for a more effective fight against drones, as US allies often use expensive missiles against relatively cheap drones.
“Any agreement to share technology to counter Iranian drones could be a boon for the United States and many of its closest partners, who launch multi-million dollar missiles at drones worth $50,000,” Politico journalists note.
The material also indicates that discussions on such cooperation between the parties have been ongoing for almost a year.
By the way,the US has officially asked Ukraine to share its experience in intercepting Iranian Shahed strike drones. This is because Iran’s rapid counterattack using cheap and easy-to-manufacture drones after the start of the US-Israeli military campaign demonstrated the vulnerability of the US and its regional allies.
As a reminder, the US and Middle Eastern countries are negotiating with Ukraine to purchase interceptor drones to repel drone attacks from Iran.
