Iran plans to rebuild its air defense system through cooperation with Belarus. A meeting of senior officials was held in Minsk on August 20.

This was reported by the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine.

“On August 20, the self-proclaimed President of Belarus Lukashenko met in Minsk with his Iranian counterpart Masoud Pezeshkian. Formally, the talks concerned trade, investment, industrial projects and cooperation in science and education, as well as coordination in multilateral organizations – from the EAEU and the SCO to the BRICS and the UN,” the intelligence report says.

However, the real goal differs from official statements. For Iran, the key issue is the ability to restore air defense and electronic warfare systems, which were seriously damaged during the war with Israel.

“Belarus, unlike Russia, is less constrained by sanctions in the military-technical sphere and could become a channel for restoring Iran’s defense capabilities,” the intelligence agency notes.

Tehran is also interested in solving the shortage of electricity generation and agricultural machinery.

For Minsk, this is the prospect of participating in projects that go far beyond the officially announced ones.

Intelligence indicates that Iran plans to use Belarus as another channel for access to sanctioned goods.

It is worth noting that Russia is rapidly losing the remnants of its Soviet arms stockpiles and is increasingly dependent on foreign allies for assistance. North Korea, Iran, and China are effectively keeping the Russian military machine in working order .
