Hundreds of ballistic missiles were launched from Iran toward Israel, marking the beginning of Tehran’s response to Israeli strikes.

Radio Liberty reports this.

On the night of June 13, Israel launched a massive air strike on Iranian territory. The targets were facilities associated with the Iranian nuclear program, in particular, uranium enrichment facilities in Natan and Fordow, as well as missile bases in Kermanshah and Khorramabad. Tehran, Isfahan, Tabriz and other major cities came under fire.

According to Iranian media reports, the attacks killed key military figures in the country, including the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Hossein Salami, the chief of the General Staff Mohammad Bagheri and nuclear physicist Mohammad Mehdi Tehranchi.

In response, Iran launched hundreds of ballistic missiles and drones into Israel. Explosions were heard in the skies over Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, and air defense systems tried to intercept the threat. The Israel Defense Forces called on the population to take shelter. According to preliminary data, at least several people were killed in Israel, dozens were injured, and there was destruction.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the nation on Thursday, saying Iran’s nuclear program poses a direct threat to Israel and stressing that the attacks are just beginning. Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has promised a serious response to the aggression.

The United States has said it was not involved in the strikes on Iran but is helping Israel with air defense. NATO and other international forces are closely monitoring the situation, fearing further escalation and the potential for the conflict to escalate into a wider war in the region.

Let us recall that on the night of Friday, June 13, the Israeli army began a large-scale operation against Iran and carried out massive attacks on nuclear and military facilities.

As it became known, as a result of the air strike carried out by Israel on the Iranian capital Tehran, more than 70 people were killed, of which at least 20 were high-ranking military personnel .

Earlier, US President Donald Trump said Israel’s attack on Iran was “magnificent.”

It should be noted that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned Ukrainian citizens against traveling to a number of countries amid the worsening security situation in the Middle East.

By the way, on the evening of June 13 , Israeli troops probably attacked Iran for the second time in 24 hours , including explosions in Tehran and near the Fordow facility.
