Tehran has no plans to participate in a new round of talks with the United States amid the escalating situation in the Strait of Hormuz .
Al Jazeera reported this, citing a representative of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
He said Iran withdrew from the meeting after the US seized an Iranian-flagged cargo ship in the strait.
Tehran believes that Washington, instead of engaging in constructive dialogue, is “playing a political game” and making baseless accusations. The Foreign Ministry spokesman also stated that he does not expect the American side to be truthful and called its position frivolous.
He warned that Iran would respond if the US or Israel took further aggressive action.
Earlier, Donald Trump announced preparations for talks in Islamabad . According to sources, US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner were scheduled to travel to the Pakistani capital.
US Vice President J.D. Vance was also expected to join the talks.
