Iran has submitted a new proposal to the United States to resolve the Middle East war. The initiative involves opening the Strait of Hormuz and postponing nuclear talks.

This is reported by Axios .

According to the sources, Tehran is proposing to focus first on a cessation of hostilities and lifting of the blockade. This approach is intended to speed up the achievement of agreements, bypassing the complex differences over the nuclear program.

At the same time, it is noted that such a model may limit the US’s ability to influence further negotiations, in particular regarding the reduction of enriched uranium stocks and the cessation of its production.

According to the interlocutors, the Iranian side, through intermediaries, signaled a lack of unity within the leadership regarding concessions on the nuclear issue. These were contacts involving representatives of Pakistan, Egypt, Turkey, and Qatar.

The White House confirmed receipt of the proposal and stressed that a decision on its consideration has not yet been made. “The United States will not negotiate through the press and will only agree to an agreement that meets its national interests,” the administration said.

US President Donald Trump is expected to hold a meeting with his national security team to discuss the situation and next steps.

Earlier, talks between the parties reached an impasse after a visit by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to Pakistan failed to yield results. A planned meeting with US representatives in Islamabad did not take place.

Recall that Donald Trump said that the US will receive Iran’s highly enriched uranium stockpile one way or another, warning that this could happen “in a much more unfriendly form” if the negotiations fail.

The day before, Iran said that the parties had not reached any agreement on the details of the nuclear program , and serious negotiations were needed to overcome the differences.
