Iran may allow Europe to demine the Strait of Hormuz – media

Iran is considering allowing European countries to participate in the demining of the Strait of Hormuz for the first time, a move that could help restore safe shipping and influence future talks with the United States.

According to the agency, Tehran has softened its position in recent weeks on the participation of foreign states in mine clearance work. Previously, the Iranian authorities categorically rejected such a possibility.

According to Bloomberg, the participation of European countries will depend on several conditions. In particular, Iran expects security guarantees for naval vessels, and the ceasefire regime must remain stable.

However, the final decision has not yet been made. It depends on the position of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, which is still divided on this issue.

In addition, Iran and the United States continue to disagree on the future management of the Strait of Hormuz, with Tehran insisting on controlling the waterway and imposing fees for its use, while Washington opposes such a model.

It was previously reported that on the night of July 15, the United States launched a new series of strikes on Iranian military facilities and announced the resumption of a naval blockade of ships heading to or leaving Iranian ports .

It was also reported that Iranian cruise missiles hit two tankers flying the flag of the United Arab Emirates in the Strait of Hormuz . The attack killed one crew member and injured eight others, including two Ukrainian citizens.
