Tehran said the draft memorandum with the United States covers the nuclear program, oil sanctions, frozen assets, and the opening of the Strait of Hormuz. The parties plan to discuss a final agreement within 60 days of the document’s approval.

This is reported by Reuters .

According to the agency’s source, the draft memorandum provides for Iran to immediately open the Strait of Hormuz to all commercial vessels. At the same time, the United States must begin lifting the naval blockade of Iranian ports immediately after signing the document and complete this process within 30 days.

The document also stipulates that Washington will not impose new sanctions on Iran until a final agreement is reached. After a final agreement is reached, US and UN sanctions on Tehran should be lifted according to an agreed schedule.

Under the draft, the US also agrees to temporarily ease oil sanctions, which will allow Iran to sell oil and earn profits from exports.

The document also calls for the unfreezing of $25 billion in Iranian assets. It is assumed that the funds can be transferred through direct cash payments, cooperation between regional states, and financial credit mechanisms.

Washington, together with regional allies, should also prepare a plan for the recovery and development of Iran, which the parties must agree on within 60 days.

In the area of nuclear program, Iran agrees not to produce or acquire nuclear weapons. Until a final agreement is reached, Tehran must maintain the current status of its nuclear program, refraining from further enrichment of uranium and expansion of nuclear infrastructure.

The draft also stipulates that the US will allow Iran to dilute its own stockpiles of highly enriched uranium on its territory as part of a future comprehensive agreement.

The parties plan to discuss the issues of the nuclear program, uranium enrichment activities, and mechanisms for managing highly enriched uranium stocks separately within 60 days of signing the memorandum and include them in the final agreement.

The day before, US President Donald Trump said that Washington and Tehran could soon sign a peace agreement . According to him, the signing of the document could take place this weekend in Europe.

As a reminder, Iran announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz to shipping amid a new escalation with the United States. However, Washington claims that the movement of ships through the strategic sea route continues as usual.

As reported, on the night of June 11, the United States continued its military operation against Iran and launched a new series of strikes on facilities that, according to the American side, are related to the country’s defense infrastructure.

It should be noted that the US launched new strikes on Iranian territory after an Iranian drone shot down an American AH-64 Apache attack helicopter near the Strait of Hormuz .
