Iran suspends cooperation with IAEA
On Wednesday, July 2, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian officially announced the suspension of the country’s cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Mehr News reports this.
IAEA inspectors will now not be allowed to enter Iran without guarantees of the safety of nuclear facilities and approval from Iran’s Supreme National Security Council.
Tehran also said it would no longer allow IAEA chief Rafael Grossi into its nuclear facilities and would ban the installation of CCTV cameras. Iranian authorities accuse Grossi of aiding “Israeli-American aggression” and of preparing “politically motivated reports” that formed the basis of the recent “anti-Iranian” resolution of the IAEA Board of Governors.
Tehran also expressed dissatisfaction with Grossi’s failure to condemn Israeli strikes on Iran.
Earlier, the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Grossi, expressed the opinion that Iran could begin producing enriched uranium within a few months, despite recent US and Israeli strikes on several of its nuclear facilities.
