The IAEA reported on the status of the nuclear facilities in Natanz, Fordow, and Isfahan in Iran, which were attacked by Israel on Friday, June 13.

This was stated on Monday by IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi.

“Following Friday’s attack that destroyed the ground-based portion of the nuclear fuel enrichment plant in Natanz, where Iran produced uranium enriched to 60%, no additional damage has been observed at the plant site,” Grossi said.

He noted that the power infrastructure, including the electrical substation, the main power building, the emergency power source and backup generators, was destroyed. The loss of power likely damaged a centrifuge at the site.

Grossi said that radiation outside the Natanz facility is at normal levels, indicating no external radiological impact. However, there is radiological and chemical contamination inside the facility.

“No damage was observed at the fuel enrichment plant in Fordow or at the heavy water reactor in Hondab, which is under construction. The Bushehr nuclear power plant was not targeted and was not affected by the recent attacks, nor was the research reactor in Tehran,” the IAEA chief added.

He added that the following was damaged at the Isfahan nuclear facility as a result of the Israeli attack:

  • central chemical laboratory;
  • uranium conversion plant;
  • reactor fuel production plant in Tehran.

Radiation levels outside the facility remain within normal limits.

At the end of his report, Grossi called on Iran and Israel to exercise “maximum restraint” and use diplomatic means to avoid escalation.

Recall that on the night of Friday, June 13, the Israeli army launched a large-scale operation against Iran and massively attacked nuclear and military facilities.

Earlier it became known that Iran refused to participate in negotiations with the United States regarding its nuclear program, scheduled for June 15 .

Meanwhile, a spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry said that the Iranian parliament is preparing a bill to withdraw the country from the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons .
