Iran’s parliament has supported the idea of closing the Strait of Hormuz, which is an important oil and gas route, in response to Western pressure.
This was reported by Reuters.
It is noted that the relevant decision is not yet final, it must be adopted by the Supreme National Security Council of Iran. However, there is a high probability that the strait will be closed.
Earlier, lawmaker and commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Esmail Kosari said that this topic is on the agenda.
“This will be done when necessary,” he added.
As is known, about 20% of global demand for oil and gas passes through the Strait of Hormuz, and its closure would significantly affect prices.
