Diehl Defense CEO Helmut Rauch announced that the company is discussing possible formats for joint work with Fire Point on the production of Flamingo cruise missiles.
“We are currently discussing how we could work together… I think it could really happen,” said Helmut Rauch.
According to him, several meetings between the companies are planned in the coming weeks. During these meetings, the parties will discuss possibilities for cooperation on the FP-5 Flamingo missile, which has a claimed range of more than 3,000 kilometers.
“There are several meetings planned for this in the next few weeks, and then we’ll see,” Helmut Rauch noted.
He also emphasized that in the event of creating a new product, it would be advisable to organize its production in Germany or other countries. According to the head of Diehl Defence, the company is “optimistic and positive” about possible cooperation with Fire Point.
According to journalists, the joint production of Flamingo missiles in Europe may become one of the most notable examples of the growing interest of NATO member states in Ukrainian defense developments and combat experience.
The publication also reports that in April, Diehl Defence, which produces IRIS-T anti-aircraft missile systems, and Fire Point signed a technology agreement, the details of which were not previously disclosed.
According to preliminary information, Diehl Defence can offer the Ukrainian company a more advanced homing head, as well as its own technological solutions developed based on the company’s many years of experience.
Earlier, the Ukrainian company Fire Point conducted the first successful test of the new FP-7.x interceptor missile , which it is developing as a cheaper alternative to the American Patriot missiles.
As a reminder, Ukrainian gunsmiths are completing preparations for flight tests of the new FP-9 ballistic missile , capable of hitting strategic targets at long distances. In parallel, work is underway on a new anti-ballistic shield.
