Iran announced an attack by the US and Israel on an oil refinery located on the island of Laban.
This was reported by the Iranian channel Press TV on the social network X.
“In violation of the ceasefire agreement, US-Israeli forces shelled the Laban oil refinery on Laban Island,” the report said.
According to media reports, firefighters were working at the scene of the attack to put out the flames.
Meanwhile, Iranian state television announced retaliatory strikes, using missiles and drones. As Al Jazeera noted , several Gulf countries came under fire within hours of the ceasefire announcement.
The United Arab Emirates announced that its air defenses were repelling the air attack, intercepting targets flying in from Iran.
“Air defense systems are currently dealing with missiles and drones coming from Iran,” the UAE Ministry of Defense said.
In addition, Kuwait’s defense ministry reported “intense hostile attacks by Iran.” At least 28 drones were intercepted over the country, some of which were aimed at “vital oil installations and power plants.”
The Bahraini Ministry of Internal Affairs noted that people there were injured due to Iranian drone strikes.
“Two citizens were slightly injured and several houses were damaged in the Sitra area due to shrapnel that fell during the interception of an Iranian drone,” the ministry said.
Qatar’s Ministry of Defense said the country was targeted by seven ballistic missiles and several drones launched from Iran.
Among other things, Saudi Arabia was also under attack. According to the FT , a drone attacked the East-West pipeline, which transports oil to the Red Sea.
Earlier, Iran confirmed the achievement of a two-week ceasefire with the US and stated its readiness to open the Strait of Hormuz for this period.
As a reminder, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga welcomed the agreements between the US and Iran.
