Israel accused Hamas of violating the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered immediate “powerful strikes” in response.

This is stated in a statement from the Office of the Head of the Israeli Government and in a material from The Times of Israel.

In particular, it is noted that Israeli army troops stationed in the city of Rafah in southern Gaza came under fire from Hamas. In return, the IDF opened fire in return.

Netanyahu ordered the military to immediately launch “powerful strikes” on the Gaza Strip and announced his intention to seize more territory in the region.

“The attack on IDF soldiers in Gaza today by the terrorist organization Hamas crosses a bright red line, to which the IDF will respond with great force,” Defense Minister Israel Katz stressed.

Three Israeli airstrikes were later reported on Gaza City, including an area near a hospital. At least nine people are now known to have died in the shelling.

Hamas, in turn, assured that it was not behind the attack on the Israeli military and was faithfully adhering to the ceasefire. However, the group noted that Israel had repeatedly violated the ceasefire.

Recall, Trump announced that Israel and the Hamas group have reached an agreement on the implementation of the first phase of the peace plan , which concerns the Gaza Strip.

By the way, on Monday, October 13,the Palestinian group Hamas released all hostages kidnapped from Israel.

The Israeli army earlier reported a series of attacks by Hamas militants outside the buffer zone , which it said were a gross violation of the current ceasefire. Palestinian sources, however, accuse Israel of dozens of violations of agreements reached in October.
