Israel announces new phase of operation against Iran

The Israel Defense Forces announced the transition to a new phase of the military operation against Iran.

IDF Chief of General Staff Eyal Zamir stated that after the first 24 hours of Operation Roaring Lion, the Israeli military will intensify strikes against Iranian regime targets and military capabilities.

According to him, the Israeli Air Force was able to effectively clear the airspace towards Tehran. The command also announced “unexpected steps” aimed at weakening Iran’s strategic capabilities.

The IDF claims that at this point they have destroyed about 80% of Iran’s air defense systems and over 60% of its ballistic missile launchers.

Zamir stressed that the operation is taking place in close coordination with the United States, which allows the allies to dominate the airspace over Iran.

According to the Israeli command, the decision to launch the operation was made due to Iran’s approach to the so-called “immunity zone” in its nuclear program.

In parallel, Israeli forces continue operations against the Hezbollah group in the Lebanese direction. According to the military, during the night operation, the group’s fire unit leader nicknamed Fidaa was eliminated.

It was previously reported that Washington is preparing for a protracted confrontation with Iran . The US Central Command has asked the Pentagon to send additional personnel to support the operation, which may indicate preparations for combat operations lasting at least 100 days.

Recall that on February 28, Israel launched preemptive strikes on Iran, as well as attacked Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon . A state of emergency was declared throughout the country.
