The Panormitis vessel, carrying grain from the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, is awaiting permission to enter the Turkish port of Iskenderun after Israel refused. Ukrainian authorities are urging Turkey not to accept the cargo and to verify the origin of the grain.

This is reported by The Times of Israel .

Ukrainian Ambassador to Israel Yevhen Korniychuk said that Ukraine hopes for a similar decision from Turkey regarding the cargo.

“We hope they will do the right thing, like Israel did,” said Yevhen Korniychuk.

According to him, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the Prosecutor General’s Office are working to convince Ankara not to accept the grain.

The Panormitis vessel arrived at the port of Iskenderun on May 13. Prior to that, Israeli importer Zenziper refused to accept the cargo following a public conflict between Ukraine and Israel.

Earlier, the Ukrainian Embassy in Tel Aviv filed an official complaint with the Israeli police against two Israeli companies, Dizengoff Trading and Zenziper. The complaint stated that the companies may have imported wheat stolen by Russia from the temporarily occupied territories of eastern Ukraine.

According to the Ukrainian side, Dizengoff received 43,800 tons of grain, of which approximately 16,500 tons may have been stolen Ukrainian wheat. The cargo was delivered by the Abinsk, which docked in the port of Haifa on April 12.

The complaint materials refer to a scheme for transporting grain through the occupied territories of Ukraine and transshipment in the Black Sea. In particular, the vessel Leonid Pastrikov received 7,600 tons of grain in the port of Berdyansk, and the vessel Fedor loaded 8,900 tons in Sevastopol.

The grain was then transferred to the Abinsk near the Kavkaz anchorage in the northern Black Sea. According to the Ukrainian side, the ship periodically turned off its transponders to conceal the origin of the cargo.

Haaretz journalists obtained satellite images that confirm the presence of support vessels in Berdyansk and Sevastopol on the indicated dates.

Ukrainian authorities are also demanding that grain samples be taken for laboratory analysis and that shipping documents be seized to establish the origin of the cargo. Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Heorhiy Tykhyi previously reported that grain from the occupied territories was sent to Turkey, Egypt, Algeria and other countries.

By the way, Ukraine has thwarted another attempt by Russia to legalize grain illegally exported from the temporarily occupied territories. Earlier, it was reported that Ukraine turned to Israel through the Panormitis ship, which is transporting grain from the temporarily occupied territories.

As a reminder, Ukraine warned Israel about a possible deterioration in relations due to the approach to the Israeli port of a ship carrying Ukrainian grain exported from the occupied territories.
