On the night of Friday, June 13, the Israeli army launched a large-scale operation against Iran and massively attacked nuclear and military facilities.
This is reported by the Times of Israel.
It is noted that the targets were uranium enrichment plants in Natanz and Fordow, missile bases in Kermanshah and Khorramabad, facilities in Tehran, Isfahan, Tabriz, Qom, and other major cities.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said its top commander, Hossein Salami, had been killed, and state media reported that the unit’s headquarters in Tehran had been attacked. The Iranian army’s chief of staff, Mohammad Bagheri, and other senior commanders were killed.
Additionally, Iranian state media reported that at least two nuclear scientists, Fereydoun Abbasi and Mohammad Mehdi Tehranchi, were killed in Israeli strikes on Tehran.
Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz declared a nationwide state of emergency and warned of an expected Iranian retaliatory strike. Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv was closed and Israel’s air defense units were put on high alert.
“Following Israel’s preemptive strike on Iran, a missile strike and drone attack against Israel and its civilian population is expected in the near future,” Katz said.
It should be noted that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stressed that the operation will continue “until the tasks set are fully accomplished.”
The head of the Israeli government claims that in recent months Tehran has been taking “steps they have not taken before – real steps towards turning enriched uranium into weapons.”
Netanyahu said Iran could produce a nuclear bomb in a very short time – less than a year – if left unchecked, calling it a “clear and obvious threat to Israel’s survival.”
As a reminder, the day before, the media reported that Israel is preparing for possible unilateral military action against Iran in the coming days. The US is withdrawing embassy staff from the region.
