Israeli troops enter Gaza: preparing for large-scale offensive
The Israeli army has officially launched a ground operation in Gaza City. The country’s defense forces have already occupied the outskirts of the city and are gradually advancing inland.
This was announced by the spokesperson for the Israel Defense Forces, Brigadier General Effie Defrin, the Jerusalem Post reports.
According to him, in preparation for the offensive, about 60,000 call-ups for reservists will be sent this week. Another 20,000 are planned to be mobilized by the end of August.
The general also confirmed that the army is working to create a humanitarian route for the evacuation of civilians. According to the Israeli side, the safe space will minimize civilian casualties during hostilities.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to approve the final plan for the Gaza offensive on August 22. If approved, Israel will significantly expand the scale of hostilities in the region.
As a reminder, Israel is preparing for a large-scale phase of the war in the Gaza Strip. The authorities are beginning to mobilize about 60,000 reservists, who are to join the forces that will participate in the preparation and, probably, in the implementation of the operation in Gaza.
As is known, about 100,000 people took to the streets of Tel Aviv to protest against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s plans to establish control over the Gaza Strip.
As reported, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu intends to seek a complete occupation of the Gaza Strip and is already seeking government support for the implementation of such a plan . The military command, some ministers, and the intelligence services are against it.
