French President Emmanuel Macron announced a new meeting of the countries participating in the “Coalition of the Determined” to achieve “concrete progress.”
He wrote about this on the social network X.
Macron noted that after the summit between the leaders of the United States and Russia, he had a telephone conversation with Volodymyr Zelensky and European partners.
In particular, officials agreed that it is necessary to continue supporting Ukraine and putting pressure on Russia.
In addition, Macron emphasized the necessary security guarantees for Ukraine, which must accompany any peace.
“In this regard, I welcome the willingness of the United States to contribute. We will work on this with them and with all our partners in the Coalition of the Resolute, with whom we will meet again soon, to achieve concrete progress. It will also be important to draw all the lessons of the last 30 years, in particular from Russia’s persistent tendency not to meet its own obligations,” the French president noted.
He added that France remains on Ukraine’s side and will continue to work closely with Zelensky and Trump.
According to Suspilny , the meeting of the “Coalition of the Determined” will be held online on August 17 at 3:00 p.m.
Recall, US President Donald Trump and European leaders discussed security guarantees for Ukraine in the format of NATO’s Article 5.
By the way, EU leaders issued a joint statement after Trump’s meeting with Putin , which took place on August 15 in Alaska. They welcomed the White House’s initiatives for a peaceful resolution of the war.
