“It was not a training ground, but a private sports complex”: the Air Force revealed details of the missile strike on the Kyiv region

Yuriy Ignat, head of the communications department of the Ukrainian Air Force, said that the Russian missile strike in the Kyiv region on July 24 was carried out on a private sports complex, not a military training ground. According to him, law enforcement agencies are currently investigating the circumstances of the event on the territory of the complex.

Yuriy Ignat reported that during the attack on July 24, Russian troops used 5 missiles of different types in the Kyiv and Odessa regions.

“Regarding Zircon, I have already refuted my colleagues. Indeed, there were Iskanders there, while there is information about Iskander-M and S-400. Well, perhaps both types: both Iskander-M and S-400. And in the south we have two Onyx missiles. A total of 5 missiles. That’s actually what the enemy used to shell the Kyiv and Odessa regions,” Ignat said.

According to him, air defense forces shot down one Iskander missile, and two Onyx missiles fired at southern Ukraine failed to reach their targets. At the same time, two missiles were hit in the Kyiv region, resulting in deaths and a large number of injuries.

Ignat expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and injured, and also called for a responsible attitude to security measures during the threat of ballistic strikes.

At the same time, an Air Force representative denied information that the strike was carried out on a military training ground.

“As for the word ‘testing ground’, it is immediately associated with the military. Of course, this is not a test ground, this is a sports complex. It is private. It has nothing to do with the military. What was done there, they will already analyze how it all happened. But this is not a test ground, I will say right away that it has nothing to do with the Armed Forces,” Ignat said.

According to the head of the communications department of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the details of the event held on the territory of a private sports complex and the actions of its organizers are currently being studied by law enforcement agencies.

Subsequently, Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko reported that as a result of a Russian missile strike on the Kyiv region on the afternoon of July 24, ten people were killed and about a hundred were injured.
