Italy is preparing a program to support the Ukrainian agricultural sector worth up to 105 million euros: details

Italy is preparing a new TERRA Ukraine program to support Ukrainian agribusiness. The initiative provides for financing Ukrainian farmers, and the total budget of the program may reach 105 million euros.

This was reported by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine following negotiations with the Italian side.

Among the main areas of the program are support for small farms and the development of agricultural cooperation.

TERRA Ukraine (Transforming and Empowering Resilient and Responsible Agribusiness) will consist of two main parts. Up to 100 million euros are foreseen for financial instruments, which will be managed by the Italian state financial institution Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP).

It is expected that this will allow Ukrainian financial institutions to reduce risks and expand lending to micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in the agri-food sector.

Up to 5 million euros will be allocated for technical assistance, training and professional development. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is planned to be involved in this area.

At the same time, the initiative provides not only financial assistance to the agricultural sector. The program should also contribute to the modernization of enterprises and the implementation of European sanitary, environmental, and corporate standards.

Special attention will be paid to the transition of Ukrainian agricultural production to a more sustainable model in accordance with the principles of the European Green Deal.

It was previously reported that the Italian government has secretly agreed to a new military aid package to Ukraine worth around €3 billion. It could include the transfer of four SAMP/T NG batteries, Aster 30 missiles, and seven long-range radars.
