The Italian government has secretly agreed to a new military aid package to Ukraine worth around €3 billion. It could include four SAMP/T NG batteries, Aster 30 missiles, and seven long-range radars.

This is reported by La Repubblica.

According to the publication, the government of Prime Minister Georgia Maloney has already agreed on the relevant decisions. They will be finally formalized in the thirteenth decree on military assistance to Ukraine.

The main part of the new package will be air and missile defense. Italy plans to transfer to Ukraine four SAMP/T NG batteries, which can intercept ballistic missiles, as well as Aster 30 missiles.

In addition, Ukraine may receive seven long-range radars – six manufactured by the French Thales and one by the Italian Leonardo.

The agreement is the result of an agreement between Italy and France in July to jointly produce the SAMP/T and Aster 30 missiles.

Rome and Paris are also considering allowing Ukraine to produce Aster 30 N1BT interceptors on its territory. This would reduce dependence on supplies of finished missiles from Europe.

Ukraine currently has two SAMP/T batteries, previously transferred by Italy and France. At the same time, since the summer of 2025, there has been a shortage of missiles for these systems due to the reduction in Aster 30 stocks in European countries.

Now they plan to increase production of interceptors. Italy may transfer some of the missiles to Ukraine by October.

La Repubblica estimates the total cost of the new package at approximately 3 billion euros. The financing is planned to be raised through the EU Ukraine Support Loan program.
