Japan shaken by powerful earthquake: people urged to evacuate
A powerful earthquake struck off the northern coast of Japan, prompting authorities to issue a tsunami warning and urge people to evacuate.

Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi urged residents of affected areas to immediately leave danger zones and be prepared for new aftershocks.
The Japan Meteorological Agency has issued a tsunami warning, with waves expected to reach heights of up to 3 meters and reach the country’s coast.
The government has created an operational headquarters to respond to the emergency.
