Japan will provide Ukraine with almost $6 billion in financial assistance in 2026. The funds will be used to strengthen defense against Russian aggression and strengthen Ukraine’s resilience.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this on the social network X.
According to him, Ukraine is grateful to Japan and Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi for the decision on additional support for next year.
“The total amount of support is almost $6 billion, and this will help our defense against Russian aggression,” Zelenskyy emphasized.
The President also emphasized that Japan demonstrates leadership not only in the Pacific region but also globally. He noted that this assistance strengthens not only Ukraine but also the rules-based international order.
“This is a significant support for our stability, and with it, the international order, which is needed to ensure that Russia’s policy of wars does not continue in the world,” the head of state added.
As previously reported, Norway approved an aid package for Ukraine for 2026 in the amount of $8.2 billion.
Recall that Germany is launching a new financial instrument that should encourage German companies to invest in Ukraine.
