Journalist Mikhail Tkach was released after being detained in Vienna.

Journalist and head of the Ukrainska Pravda investigative department, Mykhailo Tkach, was released after being detained in Vienna. He was in Austria, where he was working on an editorial assignment related to the search for former Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine reported this.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that Ukrainian diplomats and consuls from the embassy in Austria had been working with their Austrian counterparts to resolve the situation since the evening of October 8.

“We just received confirmation from the Austrian side that Mykhailo Tkach has been released. Ukrainian diplomats and consuls from the Ukrainian Embassy in Austria have been working with their Austrian colleagues since yesterday evening to resolve this situation. We are grateful to the Austrian diplomats for their prompt response,” the department reported.

At the same time, the ministry added that they are determining whether cameraman Yaroslav Bondarenko, who was detained along with Tkach, has been released.

“Protecting the rights of Ukrainian citizens is an absolute priority. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the State Security Service, and the Embassy are monitoring the situation and maintaining ongoing dialogue with the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” the Foreign Ministry noted.

Earlier, Pryamyi reported that Ukrainian journalist Mykhailo Tkach was detained in Vienna.
