Colonel of the Security Service of Ukraine Roman Chervinsky links the change of his preventive measure from 24-hour to nightly house arrest with the dismissal of Andriy Yermak from the position of head of the President’s Office.
On the air of “Pryamoy”, the counterintelligence officer stated that the judges were tired of following Bankova’s instructions, and the pressure on them had significantly weakened.
According to Chervinsky, he was under 24-hour arrest for a year and four months, which significantly exceeds the maximum six-month term provided for by law.
“I believe that this was the main reason that the judge was already tired of following the instructions of the President’s Office. Well, it is clear that the pressure from the President’s Office decreased after Yermak’s release,” he noted.
Chervinsky claims that his lawyers were previously sent “congratulations” with a request to talk less about the president, hinting that it was Yermak who was persistently seeking his imprisonment. After the preventive measure is relaxed, he plans to appeal to his command with a request to continue his military service.
The SBU colonel also added that in another case against him, the victims stated in court that they suffered from Russian aggression, not from his actions, which led to a partial return of the bail amount.
We will remind, the day before, one of the intelligence officer’s lawyers, Konstantin Globa, reported that the court had changed the preventive measure of former employee of the Main Intelligence Directorate Roman Chervinsky from 24-hour house arrest to night house arrest.
The case of Roman Chervinsky
On April 20, 2023, the SBU opened a case against Ukrainian military personnel who were planning to hijack a Russian plane. One of them is Roman Chervinsky, a former employee of the Main Intelligence Directorate. He became famous thanks to the so-called “Wagnergate”.
On April 21, 2023, Chervinsky was charged with “exceeding authority or official authority by a military official.” According to the investigation, his unauthorized actions led to the enemy’s missile attack on an airfield in the Kirovohrad region.
On April 24, 2023, the SBU detained Chervinsky. The court arrested him. The ex-spy himself stated about political pressure and falsification of the case.
In December 2023, Chervinsky was charged with attempting to seize $100,000 by impersonating an official of the State Fiscal Service.
In July 2024, Chervinsky was released from pre-trial detention after bail was posted for him by the charitable foundation of the leader of the European Solidarity party, Petro Poroshenko.
