Jumped off a bridge while fleeing from the CCC: a man died in Mykolaiv after checking documents

In Mykolaiv, during a document check by CCC and police officers, a man escaped and jumped from a bridge, resulting in his death. The State Bureau of Investigation has already opened a criminal case under the article on abuse of authority by military personnel.

According to the investigation, on Wednesday, July 30, at around 10:00 a.m., a tragic incident occurred in the industrial zone of Mykolaiv. A joint team, which included a police officer and three representatives of the territorial recruitment and social support centers (Korabelny and Zavodsky districts of the city), checked the identification documents of male passersby.

One of them, as soon as he learned about the check, started running towards the pedestrian bridge over the highway. According to law enforcement officers, the man climbed over the bridge’s railing and jumped off. He died on the spot from his injuries.

Currently, efforts are underway to identify the deceased. It is being checked whether he had military registration or belonged to any unit. SBI investigators are also questioning police officers and CCC employees who were at the scene.

Criminal proceedings have already been opened under Part 5 of Article 426-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – abuse of power or official authority by a military official, which resulted in grave consequences.

The investigation is establishing all the circumstances of the tragedy and determining whether the actions of the employees could have caused or provoked the man’s fatal act.

Earlier, on July 12, in the village of Dubov, Kovel district, Volyn region , an unknown person attacked a serviceman of the center during a check of military registration documents.

We will remind, on July 5, a conflict broke out in the Rivne region between servicemen of the CCC and a group of people , during which a soldier was hit in the head.
