The State Bureau of Investigation has launched a large-scale operation “Justice for Soldiers”, during which they are investigating possible abuses in military units.

This was reported by the press service of the State Bureau of Investigation.

Law enforcement officers are looking for cases where military personnel are only formally on duty, illegally receive payments, or instead of fulfilling their duties, work for the private interests of commanders.

In particular, this concerns the involvement of military personnel in construction, household and other private work.

The operation is being carried out jointly with the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine under the procedural guidance of the Prosecutor General’s Office.

Investigative actions are taking place in various regions of Ukraine. 72 searches have been planned within the framework of 21 criminal proceedings.

The largest number of cases concerns illegal payments to the military. 58 searches are being conducted in 12 cases. Based on their results, they plan to report 20 people to the police.

Five more searches are being conducted in the case of illegal use of military personnel’s labor. Nine searches concern corruption abuses – suspicions are being prepared for two more suspects in this case.

In total, based on the results of the operation, the State Bureau of Investigation plans to report 22 people to the police.

In addition, the State Bureau of Investigation has completed investigations into four more criminal cases involving illegal payments to military personnel. Indictments against 16 individuals are planned to be sent to court.

The Bureau noted that the detailed results of the operation will be made public after the completion of the main investigative actions. It also emphasized that they will continue to conduct similar checks together with the military command.

Earlier, on July 30, the State Bureau of Investigation began large-scale inspections of territorial recruitment and social support centers across Ukraine. At that time, investigators worked in the regional and district levels of the TCC.
