The court found former Prime Minister Mykola Azarov guilty of high treason in absentia, sentencing him to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
The SBU reported this .
The investigation established that the former employee, hiding abroad, actively collaborated with the Russian side for subversive activities.
In particular, he regularly spreads anti-Ukrainian narratives — justifying Russian aggression and temporary occupation, as well as spreading fakes about the socio-political situation.
For his information operations, Azarov uses his own resources — Telegram, YouTube channels, and personal pages on social networks.
The resource administrator was his assistant, a former official from one of Kyiv’s district administrations. She prepared provocative publications.
“She also remotely negotiated with representatives of the Russian media about the time and topic of Azarov’s participation in live broadcasts or recording comments. Before sending him “theses” for speeches and publishing posts, the defendant coordinated the materials with a former colleague in a state institution who had left for Moscow and works for Azarov,” the report says.
Thus, based on the evidence of the Security Service, the court found him guilty under four articles of the Criminal Code:
- treason committed under martial law;
- actions aimed at forcibly changing or overthrowing the constitutional order or at seizing state power, committed by prior conspiracy;
- encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine;
- justification, recognition as legitimate, denial of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, glorification of its participants.
Among other things, the court also sentenced one of his assistants in absentia to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.
Previously, the Security Service of Ukraine collected evidence of the crimes of Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin and informed him in absentia of the suspicion.
We will remind you that the Security Service reported in absentia the suspicion of Grigory Leps , who promised the Russians a “fee” for each destroyed tank of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
