Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov appointed his eldest son, Akhmat, as acting deputy head of the regional government, while also retaining his position as Minister of Sports.

Kadyrov announced this on his Telegram channel.

Akhmed Dudayev, Minister of National Policy, External Relations, Press, and Information, received a similar promotion. Kadyrov himself described these appointments as “minor personnel changes.”

Meanwhile, Radio Liberty notes that on New Year’s Eve, reports surfaced of Kadyrov’s alleged hospitalization in Moscow, though there has been no official confirmation. The Chechen leader also did not explain whether his new appointments were related to potential health issues.

Other relatives of Kadyrov also hold positions in the Chechen government. Specifically, his 24-year-old daughter, Khadizhat, was previously appointed first deputy head of the administration of the head of the republic and the government.

Akhmat Kadyrov himself became Chechnya’s Deputy Minister of Sports and Minister of Youth Affairs at the age of 18. Kadyrov’s other son, Adam, was appointed his father’s “head of security” at the age of 16 and became the curator of the Sheikh Mansur Battalion.

Let us recall that Kadyrov has not appeared in public for a week : his health has sharply deteriorated.
