Kamensky angered Ukrainians with a performance in Russian in the US: all the details of the scandal

Singer Nastya Kamensky has found herself at the center of a heated debate after her US concert tour. The performances, which took place in Chicago, Miami, and New York, caused a mixed reaction due to the artist’s return to performing Russian-language songs – despite previous statements about abandoning this practice.

A new wave of indignation was caused by a video from a performance in Miami, where Kamensky, addressing the audience, made a statement that quickly spread across the network:

“It doesn’t matter what language we speak or what color our skin is. The only language the whole world understands is love,” she said in Russian from the stage.

This performance was accompanied by the performance of old hits in Russian, including “This is my night”, “Red wine” and “Popa kak u Kim”, which caused a wave of criticism among the Ukrainian audience.

The situation was perceived especially sharply against the background of a long-standing statement by the singer herself: in 2022, Kamensky publicly promised to abandon the Russian-language repertoire and condemned the dominance of Russian artists in the media space during the war.

Nastya herself explained her return to singing in Russian by saying that she wants to convey messages of support for Ukraine to a wider audience, including those who do not speak Ukrainian but sympathize with Ukrainians in the war against the Russian Federation.

However, social media exploded with outrage, with commentators calling it inconsistency and “playing with the public.”

As a reminder, a conflict broke out in the capital’s subway due to provocative shouts in support of the aggressor state . One of the passengers began shouting anti-Ukrainian remarks, including “Glory to Russia,” which outraged the people in the car.
