The morning of September 23 began with a massive air raid warning for residents of Kazan, Russia. Several areas of the Republic of Tatarstan, including Kazan and nearby settlements, were alerted to a threat from the sky.

This is reported by Telegram channels.

At 08:57, an air alert was declared in Kazan and the Yelabuga area. The reason was a potential drone attack. The Aviation Building District was the most affected, where, according to preliminary reports, explosions were heard.

Local authorities immediately ordered the evacuation of schoolchildren to shelters. Despite this, the educational process was not stopped. The Ministry of Emergency Situations called on the civilian population to also take shelter and follow safety instructions.

Several loud sounds, similar to explosions, were recorded in the city. The Tatarstan authorities were quick to assure that these were supposedly “planned tests” at one of the defense enterprises – presumably a gunpowder factory. However, another version is spreading in the information space.

Following the alert, Kazan and Nizhny Kamsk temporarily introduced a special aviation regime called “Carpet,” which provides for a complete ban on civil aviation flights in the potential threat zone. As a result, at least 19 flights were delayed.

The Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council hinted that the drones could have reached targets in Tatarstan. The director of the Center for Countering Disinformation, Andriy Kovalenko, commented on the events succinctly:

“Yelabuga is catching greetings,” he wrote.

Kazan is one of the key cities of the Russian military-industrial complex, in particular, it is home to important aircraft factories, which are not the first targets of attacks. Against this background, the alarm in the region is perceived not at all as a “test”, but as another attempt to strike at the critical infrastructure of the Russian Federation.

Recall that previously, drones attacked Russia, in particular , the city of Yelabuga, where Shahed drones are manufactured, was under attack.

As reported, drones from the SBU’s Special Operations Center “A” attacked a logistics hub in the settlement of Kzyl-Yul in the Russian Republic of Tatarstan.
