The 68th annual Grammy Awards were held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Sunday, February 1. The Recording Academy announced winners in 95 categories.
This is stated on the Grammy website .
Kendrick Lamar was the most successful artist of the ceremony, winning 5 awards. He received three statuettes before the main telecast began: for best rap song for TV Off, melodic rap performance Luther with SZA, and rap performance Chains & Whips as a guest artist.
The rapper added two more wins during the CBS primetime broadcast. With the award for best rap album for GNX, Kendrick Lamar became the most-winning rapper in Grammy history, surpassing Jay-Z’s previous record. His fifth win of the night for record of the year for Luther cemented his lead.
Winners of the main nominations
Despite Lamar’s dominance, the four main categories of the ceremony were won by different artists. The award for album of the year went to Puerto Rican artist Bad Bunny for his work Debí Tirar Más Fotos.
Billie Eilish won Song of the Year with Wildflower, while British singer Olivia Dean won Best New Artist.
Lady Gaga won two awards: for her pop song “Abracadabra” and for best dance pop recording. She also won in the category of “Best Pop Vocal Album” for her work “Mayhem”.
Winners in other categories
The winner in the Best Music Video category was Doechii for Anxiety, directed by James McKell.
Among the pop artists, Lola Young stood out, winning the award for best pop solo performance with the song Messy.
Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande won the Best Pop Duo or Group Performance award for “Defying Gravity.”
The rock categories saw a variety of artists succeed. Yungblud, along with Nuno Bettencourt, Frank Bello, Adam Wakeman and II, won the award for best rock performance for the song Changes. Turnstile won in two categories: best rock album and best rock song for Never Enough.
The Recording Academy presented awards in 86 categories during an afternoon “premiere ceremony,” while the 9 major awards were presented during prime time during the television broadcast.
