Kept in cruel conditions and attacked the “owner”: a wolf was rescued from an apartment in Kyiv

In Kyiv, animal rescuers removed a wolf that had been kept in an apartment for a long time in unsanitary conditions. Due to stress and improper maintenance, the animal became aggressive and attacked its owner.

This was reported by the Wild Animals Rescue Center .

The incident occurred in an apartment in Obolon. Animal rescuers were called after a wild animal attacked a woman who was holding it. The wolf injured the owner’s arm and thigh, after which the woman required medical attention.

Neighbors called an ambulance. After receiving treatment at the hospital, the woman was unable to return to her apartment because the animal was behaving aggressively and not letting people in. After that, the owner contacted animal rescuers with a request to remove the wolf from the apartment.

“We received a call for help to remove a wolf from an apartment in Obolon. An inadequate woman kept the animal in her home for a long time,” the Wild Animals Rescue Center press service reported.

Zookeepers noted that the conditions of detention were unsuitable for a wild animal. They recorded unsanitary conditions in the apartment, lack of proper care, as well as the lack of vaccinations and veterinary treatments for the wolf. This, according to experts, could have caused increased stress and aggressive behavior in the animal.

The Wild Animals Rescue Center also reported that this woman had previously kept wild animals. About 7 years ago, two wolves were taken from her, which, after treatment, were transferred abroad to be kept in proper conditions.

“And this time we will do everything in our power to prevent something like this from happening again, and to ensure that this woman does not start wild animals again,” the Wild Animals Rescue Center emphasized.

The rescued wolf is currently under the supervision of specialists. It has been provided with safe conditions and the necessary veterinary control.
