Ukrainian defense forces have struck Russian fuel and energy infrastructure facilities, including an oil terminal in Primorsk and an oil refinery in Ufa. Fires have been reported at both facilities, and the extent of damage is being determined.
This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to the General Staff, the attack was carried out on March 22 and on the night of March 23 on important facilities that provide fuel processing, storage, and transportation.
In particular, the Transneft – Port Primorsk oil terminal in the Leningrad Region of Russia was hit. According to preliminary data, the tank farm and oil loading infrastructure were damaged, accompanied by a fire on the territory of the facility.
About 60,000,000 tons of oil pass through the port of Primorsk annually, which is used to finance the war against Ukraine and supply the Russian army.
The Bashneft-Ufaneftekhim oil refinery in Ufa was also affected, where a fire was confirmed on the territory of the enterprise.
“The Ukrainian Defense Forces will continue to strike important enemy targets until the Russian Federation’s armed aggression against Ukraine is completely stopped,” the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine noted.
It is noted that the primary oil refining capacity at this enterprise is about 6–8 million tons per year, and the facility itself is located approximately 1,400 km from the state border of Ukraine.
The extent of the damage is currently being determined.
It was previously reported that on the night of March 23, explosions were heard in the port of Primorsk in the Leningrad Region of Russia , followed by a fire at the oil terminal. As a result of the attack, a fuel tank was damaged, the facility’s operations were stopped, and personnel were evacuated.
