Kherson residents who are not ready to leave the city permanently are urged to leave for safer regions of Ukraine, at least for the autumn and winter.

Deputy Chairman of the Kherson Regional Council Oleksandr Tolokonnikov announced this on air during a telethon.

According to him, the authorities continue to work on decentralizing the heating system, but constant Russian shelling significantly complicates the city’s preparation for the heating season.

Tolokonnikov noted that Russian military drones can monitor infrastructure preparations and strike at any time. He also argued that even the launch of a few drones like Gerber could negate the work.

“We’ll do everything we can to ensure it remains the same as in previous winters, when the Russians destroyed the thermal power plants, but we were able to supply heat to homes with the help of our courageous power engineers. Almost the entire city had heat all winter. How things will be this year remains to be seen,” the official emphasized.

He added that it is difficult to guarantee the stable operation of Kherson’s critical infrastructure under constant attacks.

Earlier, Russian troops again bombed the Kherson Thermal Power Plant . The plant suffered severe damage, so its normal operation this winter is no longer expected.
