Kidnapped and convicted: Tokmak woman given 13 years for “espionage”

Olga Chernyavska, a resident of temporarily occupied Tokmak, Zaporizhia region, was sentenced to 13 years in prison on charges of “espionage.”

This was reported by the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, citing Russian media.

According to their information, the woman is accused of communicating with her son, who serves in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as allegedly transmitting information.

The Center notes that the story actually began in May 2023.

“Olga Chernyavska was kidnapped by Russian security forces and held for a long time without any official status,” the report says.

According to human rights activists, her relatives have not known where she is for over a year. There is also information about ill-treatment during detention.

“There are reports of possible use of torture and incommunicado detention,” the Center emphasizes.

Only more than a year after the arrest was a criminal case opened against the woman under the article about “espionage.” The trial itself took place behind closed doors.

After that, the so-called court handed down a sentence of 13 years in prison.

As a reminder, Denis Golub, a Ukrainian prisoner of war and a member of the Azov regiment, was sentenced to 20 years in a maximum security colony . The verdict in the case of alleged “terrorism” was handed down by the Southern District Military Court of Russia.

As reported, eight people suspected of blowing up the Crimean Bridge in 2022 were sentenced to life imprisonment in Russia.
