Kidnapping, beatings and threats: nine members of the CCK groups were convicted in Odessa

In Odessa, nine members of the CCK alert groups were convicted of kidnapping men and torturing them. Six of them received real prison terms, with the most severe sentence being 7 years and 1 month.

This is stated in a statement from the Office of the Attorney General.

According to the case materials, in April-May 2026, members of the alert groups forcibly took men from the streets of Odessa, put them in cars and drove them to the district CCC. During the detentions, the victims were beaten, tear gassed, threatened and humiliated. They also demanded personal data and information about other persons of draft age from the men.

“In one case, the victim was threatened with sexual violence, in another, the man fainted after the use of tear gas,” the SBI said.

During the forced transportation of another man, one of the convicts took 5,200 hryvnias from his wallet.

All nine pleaded guilty and entered into plea agreements with the prosecution, which were approved by the court. Among those convicted are military personnel and civilians involved in mobilization activities.

Six defendants received actual prison terms. Two were sentenced to two years of service restriction with a deduction of 10% of their financial security in favor of the state. Another convict received five years of imprisonment with a probationary period of two years.

The four men were also banned from holding positions in district CCCs and SPs and from participating in mobilization events for three years. One of the defendants was additionally convicted of robbery under martial law.

The trial of two other defendants in this case is ongoing.

As a reminder, in the Lviv region, a man was held in the CCC building for almost seven days and, according to him, could not leave on his own. Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets has launched an investigation and is demanding to find out on what grounds the man was held in the military registration and enlistment office for so long.

As reported, the State Bureau of Investigation has completed an investigation into six servicemen from one of the district CCCs in Kharkiv. According to the investigation, they illegally deprived two civilian men of their liberty, beat them, threatened them with weapons, and demanded that they confess to alleged involvement in drug trafficking. The indictment has already been sent to court.
