Killer waited for the police in an ambush: details of the deaths of police officers in Cherkasy region

In Cherkasy region, four police officers were killed during an operation to detain a suspect in an assassination attempt on a local council member.

According to information provided to Ukrinform by an informed source, the incident occurred in Korsun-Shevchenkivske. The local deputy and head of a public organization, young and active, has repeatedly become the target of attacks – according to preliminary data, he has already been the target of two premeditated attempts. He himself appealed to law enforcement agencies with a request to investigate these cases.

The police officers identified the suspect and received a warrant for his arrest. When the operational-investigative group arrived at the scene, they were ambushed: after getting out of the car, the attacker opened fire with an automatic weapon.

All the bullet wounds were inflicted in the neck area, as the police officers were wearing helmets and bulletproof vests.

Four police officers were killed, one more was wounded. The killer was eliminated by special forces. An investigation is underway.

As previously reported, the head of the National Police, Ivan Vyhivskyi, informed that four police officers died in the Cherkasy region during the detention of a murder suspect. Another law enforcement officer was injured.
