“Kindergartens and schools won”: Russia attacked Ukraine with 277 strike drones in a day

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that since yesterday, Russia has used 277 strike drones of various types against Ukraine, including 155 jets. In Kyiv, the attack killed people, injured dozens, and damaged kindergartens, schools, a residential building, and other facilities.

According to the president, in Kyiv alone, Russian drones damaged 2 kindergartens, 2 schools, a residential building, a service station, warehouses, and communication facilities. The house used as the residence of the Saudi Arabian ambassador was also damaged.

In the Dnipro region, a sports school was among the damaged facilities, and in the Sumy region, the building of the regional children’s home was damaged.

Zelensky said the Russian strikes showed Moscow was taking no real steps to de-escalate. He said Russia could use diplomatic signals to delay tough measures from international partners.

The President called for the full implementation of Lindsey Graham’s sanctions and tariffs law and increased pressure on Russia. He also announced the preparation of new sanctions against financial chains, the supply of components and equipment for the production of Russian weapons, as well as specific companies and individuals.

“The new sanctions should come into effect in October,” Zelenskyy said.

He said the restrictions should increase pressure on Russia and facilitate a transition to real diplomacy. The president also called on partners from the Group of Seven and the Group of Twenty to take a principled position.

It was previously reported that on the morning of September 27, Russian forces attacked Kyiv and the Kyiv region with drone strikes . As of 12:20, two people were reported dead and at least eight injured.
