Konotop in Sumy Oblast has been suffering from power outages for the fifth day after Russian strikes on energy infrastructure.
This was announced by Prime Minister of Ukraine Serhiy Koretsky after a conversation with the mayor of Konotop.
According to him, on October 28, the government must provide the city with the necessary supply of diesel fuel for backup power sources. It is needed primarily for the operation of the boiler house and water utility.
Koretsky also instructed the Ministry of Energy and Ukrenergo to urgently deal with the situation and restore power supply as soon as possible.
Power problems in Konotop arose after the Russian attack on the night of October 24. Currently, critical infrastructure is operating on backup power sources, and invincibility points have been deployed in the city.
Sumyoblenergo explained that the Russian strikes damaged several energy facilities at once. This complicates repairs and the ability to provide the city with electricity under backup schemes.
At the same time, the Ministry of Energy reported that as of October 28, power supply had been restored to most consumers. Work is ongoing.
