Kostroma power plant was hit by drones: what is known
On the night of Thursday, November 6, drones attacked a thermal power plant in the city of Volgorechensk, Kostroma Region, Russia.
Local residents reported the explosions and fire.
Local media reported several powerful explosions and fires near the energy facility. Later, regional governor Sergei Sitnikov confirmed the attack, saying that “air defense systems repelled the strike.”
According to him, in the morning, city residents heard a series of loud explosions – air defense systems were activated in the region. Emergency services are working at the scene to eliminate the consequences. According to official information, the power supply in the city was not disrupted, and there were no injuries.
Kostroma GRES is one of the largest power plants in Central Russia, located on the right bank of the Volga River. The plant operates mainly on natural gas and fuel oil, and its installed capacity is about 3,600 MW.
As a reminder, on the night of November 6 , explosions were heard and fires broke out in oil refineries in Volgograd, Russia, and temporarily occupied Simferopol. Russian social media reported drone attacks and strikes on industrial facilities.
