On Thursday, April 30, in the semi-finals of the WTA 1000 tennis tournament in Madrid, Ukraine’s second-ranked player Marta Kostyuk (WTA 23) will meet with former Russian tennis player Anastasia Potapova (WTA 56), representing Austria.
The fight will start at approximately 22:30 Kyiv time.
Anastasia Potapova once represented Russia, but in December 2025, she converted to Austrian citizenship. She has faced Marta Kostyuk four times already, with a 2-2 draw.
In the quarterfinals of the tournament in Madrid, Potapova defeated former world number one, Czech tennis player Karolina Pliskova – 6:1, 6:7, 6:3, and Marta Kostyuk defeated Czech athlete Linda Noskova – 7:6, 6:0.
The opponents know each other well. A tense match is expected, but Marta Kostyuk is considered the favorite due to her successful season.
