Former Ukrainian Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko crossed the border in a premium Mercedes-Benz V-Class minivan, despite the order for his trip to Paris stating that he should use a company car.
This was reported by Ukrainska Pravda, citing sources in law enforcement agencies.
According to the publication, Kravchenko left Ukraine through the Shehyni-Medyka checkpoint. The vehicle he used to cross the border belongs to Andreolli LLC, a company specializing in premium international passenger transportation.
The Mercedes was driven by a driver registered as a sole proprietor.
Meanwhile, the order for the Paris trip, which Kravchenko personally signed, specified that he was to travel using official transport. Ukrainska Pravda previously reported that the trip was scheduled for five days, beginning September 13. The Prosecutor General’s Office stated that the purpose of the trip was to attend a hearing of the PACE parliamentary network. However, PACE did not confirm the participation of Kravchenko or his representatives in the corresponding meeting.
According to the publication’s sources, the trip in a chartered car, given the specifics of this type of transportation, was not paid for using the state per diem allowance provided for business travel.
Where exactly Kravchenko went after crossing the Ukrainian-Polish border is unknown. Ukrainska Pravda’s sources suggest that Austria and the United Arab Emirates were among the possible destinations considered.
On September 15, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree dismissing Kravchenko from his position as Prosecutor General. The day before, Kravchenko left Ukraine, claiming he was on a business trip.
As a reminder, Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko announced that he had signed a notice of suspicion for NABU Director Semyon Krivonos .
As is known, Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko submitted his resignation on September 7. He called it a conscious political decision.
As a reminder, the charges against Kravchenko are related to a high-profile corruption scandal that arose as a result of the NABU and SAPO’s special operation “Carthage.” As part of this investigation, anti-corruption agencies uncovered a criminal organization that was “protecting” a network of fraudulent call centers.
According to investigators, the center of this scheme was Serhiy Kropiva, the deputy head of the International Cooperation Department of the Prosecutor General’s Office, who had friendly relations with Ruslan Kravchenko. Krapiva was arrested on September 4. The following day, September 5, Serhiy Krapiva was taken into custody .
