Russia’s new statements regarding the terms of peace negotiations indicate that the Kremlin has no intention of ending the war even if control over Donbas is established.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing a source in the president’s team.
According to the interlocutor, the key role in the negotiations is played by the US position, not Moscow’s statements. Washington, like Ukraine, insists on the need to end the war diplomatically.
The source also drew attention to the words of Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov that after the possible withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from Donbas, hostilities will only be “suspended.”
The interlocutor emphasized that such statements confirm Ukraine’s position: Russia seeks to gain control over Donbas, but does not plan to stop the war, using the region as a springboard for further actions.
