The Kyiv Court of Appeal allowed People’s Deputy Nestor Shufrych to be released from custody on bail of over 33 million hryvnias.

This is reported by the Telegraph.

The lawyer of the People’s Deputy Viktor Karpenko confirmed that on January 6, the court decided to leave him in custody, but provided for an alternative in the form of bail.

According to him, the amount of bail is 33 million 280 thousand hryvnias. After paying these funds, Shufrych will be able to leave the pre-trial detention center.

At the same time, the defense currently does not know whether bail will be posted and when exactly this might happen. The lawyer emphasized that this is a significant amount.

The politician’s son, Oleksandr Shufrych, said that he is currently serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and performing combat missions, so he is unable to attend court hearings. However, he is confident that the funds will be found for his father.

According to him, Shufrych has party associates who have previously bailed him out. Among them are declared dollar millionaires. If they show political solidarity, bail will be posted.

Oleksandr Shufrych also stated that he believes his father’s stay in pre-trial detention is too long. In his opinion, even if the trial continues, the MP should participate in it while staying at home.

As previously reported, Nestor Shufrych’s preventive detention was extended until July 13, 2025.

As a reminder, on December 27, 2024, the court announced a ruling allowing Shufrych to exercise his parliamentary powers , as he has not yet been found guilty and has not lost his mandate. At the same time, the court refused to allow Shufrych to participate in the Council meeting physically, but ordered him to be granted the right to exercise his parliamentary powers during his stay in the pre-trial detention center.
