Kyiv is preparing new transport tariffs: how much will travel cost?

Kyiv plans to update fares for public transport. A single trip on the metro, bus, trolleybus or tram could cost 30 hryvnias.

This was reported by the Kyiv City State Administration.

At the same time, a discount system will be in place for passengers who regularly use public transport. The more trips you purchase on a transport card, the cheaper each trip will be.

The cost of one trip will be as follows:

• 1–9 trips — 30 UAH
• 10–19 trips — 28.90 UAH
• 20–29 trips — 27.80 UAH
• 30–39 trips — 26.60 UAH
• 40–49 trips — 25.50 UAH
• 50 trips — 25 UAH

The city also plans to introduce monthly travel passes. In this case, one trip will cost approximately 23.3-23.6 hryvnias.

Preferential conditions will be maintained for students and schoolchildren. Students will pay 50% of the cost of a monthly pass, and schoolchildren will continue to travel for free during the school year. In the summer period, a 75% discount will apply to them.

Separately, the Kyiv City State Administration wants to introduce a transfer ticket for 60 hryvnias. It will allow unlimited transfers between the metro and ground transport for 90 minutes.

The city administration recalled that fares in the capital have not changed since 2018. The need for revision is explained by the increase in costs for electricity, fuel, employee salaries, and maintenance of transport infrastructure.

The new tariffs are planned to be introduced from July 15, 2026, after the completion of all regulatory procedures, consultations with the public and trade unions.
