Kyiv is preparing to install mobile shelters: what is known about the timing

The first mobile civil defense shelters, which will be installed in Kyiv with budget funds, may appear by the end of 2026. Currently, city authorities are checking places where people lack protection during air raids.

This was announced by the spokeswoman for the Kyiv City Military Administration, Kateryna Pop, on television.

According to her, one mobile shelter, which was previously installed in the capital, was not financed from the city budget. As for the first facilities with budget funds, their installation is expected at the end of the year.

Pop noted that shelters in Kyiv are unevenly distributed. In particular, there are not enough of them in some residential areas on the left bank. Additional protection is also needed in places where there are large crowds of people, for example, near public transport stops.

The Kyiv Defense Council has instructed to conduct an audit of such locations, update their list, and determine where to direct resources for installing shelters. This also applies to the redistribution of funds at the capital level.

As a reminder, in Kyiv , in late October – early November, they plan to begin installing mobile shelters near public transport stops . In the first stage, 14 such structures are planned to be equipped.

As reported, Ukrzaliznytsia has installed 33 mobile shelters at railway facilities in Kyiv and the region. The company plans to equip another 128 such structures in the capital region and almost 650 in other regions of Ukraine.
