In Kyiv, due to restrictions on traffic on bridges across the Dnieper, significant traffic jams formed on the morning of October 2. The most difficult situation was on the routes between the left and right banks, and taxi rides became sharply more expensive at this time.
The Kyiv City State Administration and Kyivpastrans announced the traffic restrictions. They are related to the consequences of the nighttime Russian attack on the capital.
The South Bridge is completely closed to traffic in both directions. On the Metro Bridge, traffic towards the right bank has been limited to one lane, and on the Paton Bridge, traffic from the right bank to the left has been banned.
Because of this, public transport schedules have been changed. Buses No. 51, 55, 115, and 118-D in the direction of the right bank run via the Paton Bridge with a deviation from the schedule, and in the direction of the left bank they have been directed via the Darnytskyi Bridge.
The routes of trolleybuses No. 43 and No. 50 were also changed. After a temporary change of route, bus No. 1-M resumed its operation according to its own schedule, but also with delays.
Due to restrictions on crossings, roads in the capital quickly became congested. In some directions, drivers and passengers actually found themselves in multi-kilometer traffic jams.
Amidst the transport problems, demand for taxis has increased sharply. The cost of a trip from the left bank to the right bank this morning in some cases ranged from 1,056 to 1,609 UAH.
For comparison, a regular trip between districts of Kyiv is much cheaper, but during times of sharp increase in demand, taxi services increase fares. This has been observed repeatedly during transport disruptions in the capital.
The situation with bridges and transport may change throughout the day, so Kyiv residents planning trips between the banks of the Dnieper should consider additional travel time.
As a reminder, on the night of October 2, Russian troops again attacked the Southern Bridge in Kyiv . A 25-story residential building in the Darnytskyi district was also damaged as a result of the enemy strike.
As reported, due to the consequences of the night attack by Russian troops in Kyiv, traffic restrictions were introduced on the Southern Bridge, Paton Bridge, and Metro Bridge . At the same time, the traffic pattern at two crossings was changed during the morning.
