Kyiv partially restores traffic on the Southern Bridge: which cars will be able to pass

In Kyiv, starting October 30, vehicle traffic will gradually resume on the Southern Bridge from the left to the right bank. Initially, the road will be opened with only one lane for passenger cars and other vehicles weighing up to 10 tons.

This was reported by the Kyiv City State Administration.

The decision was made after a technical inspection of the bridge and an examination by the National Institute for Infrastructure Development.

In the opposite direction — from the right to the left bank — traffic remains closed for now. Technical work is ongoing on this section. The reopening of the road will be announced separately.

At the same time, specialists from utility companies, together with scientists, are developing technical solutions for repairing damaged bridge structures, in particular those on which the operation of the metro depends.

Drivers are asked to take into account time restrictions when planning routes.

Earlier in Kyiv, the Southern Bridge was damaged by a nighttime Russian missile attack. This is the first missile strike on the structure, which Russian forces had already attacked with drones in early October . Currently, traffic on the bridge is completely blocked, and restrictions are in place on the green line of the metro.
