Mayor Vitali Klitschko has ordered calculations for a possible revision of public transportation fares in the capital.

He reported this on his Telegram.

According to Klitschko, the decision was made following appeals from relevant departments of the Kyiv City State Administration and transport company trade unions. The Departments of Economy and Transport received these instructions.

The mayor noted that the current fare to Kyiv remains the lowest in Ukraine and has not changed since 2018. At the same time, significant increases in costs—for fuel, electricity, materials, and logistics—are forcing the city to review tariffs and bring them closer to an economically justified level.

Klitschko emphasized that public transportation in the capital is subsidized. Specifically, approximately 12 billion hryvnias have been allocated from the city budget for its support in 2026.

He also noted that the state has not fully reimbursed the costs of transporting passengers entitled to discounts for many years. Hundreds of millions of hryvnias are spent from the Kyiv budget on this annually.
